I wasn’t expecting to see this crop up on my small friendslist—but its cropped up and I have some things I can give so I figured I might as well post one myself. I don’t have much that I want—nothing fancy.
Step One
- Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friends friends, or just random journals, or
wish_list
to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My Wish List

I’m taking this idea from
blueeyedliz.
For the holidays I’d like to write little ficlits for people. If you’d like something from me you have three options—choose a story that is finished (short story) and request something based off it, choose a multipart story that you want to see a new chapter for, or give me a new plot/idea. I do original gen, original slash, original trans, and gen supernatural fic.
It is likely that I’ll end up being late with these(I’m always a day late and a dollar short) but so long as I don’t lose the majority of my writing in a external-harddrive death I should be able to finish them by January without too many issues.
How to request:
Name: Your name
Fandom: Original/Whatever Fandom
Genre:
Idea: Prompt words, themes, plotlines—example: 1) Forks and pearls, 2) Fairytales, 3) A story/new chapter based on XYZ.
----
Current plotlines in play

Still sorting my life. Will be back shortly. Am doing, though will suitably fail as always, nanowrimo. Anyone want to be on my Nanolock?

Happy Halloween everyone! I'll try to have a Halloween image up tomorrow--I kind of failed in making one yesterday (or rather it wasn't up to my standards). In lieu of that just go down and read the Zombie porn (it's been called creepy, so I'm going to take that and call it suitable). I hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday!

Title: The In-Between
Location it's posted:Shousetsu Bang*Bang: Halloween Edition 2009
Pen Name: Bara Akai (薔薇・赤い) (fits with the zine theme)
Type: Original Horror
Date: 10/2009
Rating: R to Nc-17
Warning(Highlight to Read): Erotic asphyxiation, dubcon, zombies, bondage
Summary: Beating death isn't as hard as Michael thought it would be. Though he did find out a little too late that it probably needed a few trial runs and error adjustments.
Notes: Illustrated
Personal Notes: I wanted to post this here like this so that anyone who needed to see warnings could. Its not a light story so that worried me a bit. Also, I sort of currently hate it so don't go looking for anything amazing. I changed one whole time line at the last minute and I have no idea if it still works. Nevertheless, if its of interest to ou I'd suggest going and checking out the entire edition. I'm planning on filtering my way through over the next couple of days around my epic reading for class.

What am I up to?
I’m afraid not much. I do class work, which is dull, and meander around. As I feared—though I love my parents and love seeing them everyday—I feel stuck. I don’t feel as though I’m getting anywhere and the coursework isn’t helping: in many ways it is easier than my undergrad and so I end up bored and despondent. I’m not getting anything done, even if I am making great headway for my degree, and I’m ready to just…do something. I want my own space.
I think some of the problem is the fact that everything here is stagnant. My brother is still looking for a job—has been since January—and it’s not like there aren’t any jobs at all, just not many career jobs. His continuous agitation and bristling attitude puts me on edge and he refuses, utterly refuses, to attempt to take steps to improve the situation. My dad is now retired and so my brother and my dad knock heads at best every-other-day. My mom is working, of course, and she really hasn’t done anything to drive me crazy but, still, I need to move on.
I suppose this is a good thing to note—I was right about my concerns about going to USC’s lib. Sci school. It’s a good program, but between living at home and the fact that the coursework is geared towards adults working full time and probably with children. For a girl who loves a academic challenge and intense coursework… it’s just not enough.
So I’m looking for jobs. I’m not sure what I’ll end up doing but… it’s something.
Meanwhile I’m attempting, once again, to edit The In-Between. I’m having mixed results and after that I have Jalapeños and Ginger Ale to finish editing—this does not bode well. I’m also debating on what I want to work on for Nano again. On one hand I want to work on some nonsense something—on the other I’ve been reading a tone of Fairytales for my Storytelling class and I’d love to rework one of them. Tam Lin to Names on a Harp. Clearly these two cannot be the same (though even as I say that I can think of some really convoluted ways that it could. This is also not a good thing.)
Oh, I’m also open to edit other people’s stuff so long as you’re patient while I get drug away by class work intermittently. Send me some info about your project before hand and I’ll let you know if I think I’d be a good fit for it.

Just a quick post to ask who all is going to be attempting NanoWrimo? I'm considering it, seeing as my schedule is oddly free and yet not (school work is like that) even though I never finish because November is the month of the devil. School work shoots up, drama in the family...you name it--something must happen in November.
Regardless I'm considering doing something completely unserious with no moral or twist or concern at the end--just straight up fun writing. I've two minds of this. One I think it might be fun and would be a good exercise. Two it makes me extremely uncomfortable because I normally slave over everything.
So here I'm not really counting heads for my own work (though if you want to say you can't wait to read utter nonsense then, by all means, comment) but more along the lines who is planning on working on it and pat yourself on the back for how well you did (or didn't do) the previous times you participated.

I think about writing a lot.
Not what I’ve read, or even specifically what I’ve written—just writing. As an act, at the end—like taking a cigarette after sex and asking, “How was that for you?”
I try to gauge how it felt to write—am I stuck in another hell-block? Or did it come out smoothly? Did it work out with a few problems but still seem to go okay? Does it feel disjointed still, unfinished?

I've been wanting to do a comic with women. Although I love Hard Drive Reality, working with someone else can be difficult, or cause pauses (though most of those are mine alone) and I really wanted to showcase women. Yes, there are some kickass women in HDR but they won't be seen as much seeing as the main characters are Andy, Kit, and Steven. Therefore, I'm slowly working on a predominately female comic--fantasy styled set in two different fantasy settings. This is slow going because poser hates my desk top and I'm having some trouble finding fantasy gear that will fit a girl who has meat on her bones (and/or is pregnant) so...
Nevertheless, here's the first two pages--along with a random layout I'm making. Do I have a use for it? Hell no I don't. I hope you enjoy anyway.

Alright, so I'm looking at all sorts of Big Bang Challenges at random. Bits here and there--RPS, every Fandom, a couple theme ones (Scifi/fantasy, kink, what have you). So I was wondering is there an Original fic one? If not, why not?
I can see that it might be a problem that Original coms are slightly different than fandom coms, it could be that its perceived that there would be less artists, but I was just curious. I rather like the Big Bang's master posts and the way they function, though I haven't been active in any yet, so seeing one for original fic only (not one thats just open to anything) sort of intrigues me.
Also--I finally got Poser 8 to work. :D This thrills me.

I actually signed up for a meme dealing with songs with the letter V, I believe, ages ago... instead I ended up making a mini fan mix/something with Folk music. If you like more electric, heavy beat, stuff this probably isn't for you. Most of it has a folkish sound, the majority is quiet, and the emphasis tends to be on the lyrics/sound of the music. A lot of it are old favorites, a couple of them have been in nearly every Halloween fan mix ever. Others are a bit harder to find, or a bit blueish. There's even one hymn. Nevertheless, here's my first little fanmix--Somewhat Wicked. Sorry, no art with it or anything. Just the music: each song on its own link or there's a folder at the bottom with all the links. Sorry, no zip--my internet is too flaky for it.

On suggestion by Chaperoned I decided to try my hand at making poser art of the characters from The Glass Coffin. They are not perfect but here's the first one I've done.

So I'm in the middle of moving. \o/ Thank god. I love the people here, and I love the feel of Charleston dearly--but I need a break. I hope this won't impede my Chares' Towne stories but if they are then I can always work my way back the following year--or even in the spring if I am desperate.
I'm mostly just doing a short update to say I have tripped over A Quiet Manor's sources four different times this evening. I think that might be indicative of what I should work on. Too bad I'm still pissed after the great-deletion of my hard drive. We're still working to reconcile our differences. Hopefully they will be settled soon because if the Poetic Edda attacks from above when I'm putting my bookcases together back home we're going to have words.

Anyone know what happened to
the_dystopian ? I used to read some of their stories--I wasn't a fan of all but I did enjoy a couple of them. Well, they disappeared a few years ago and now their journal has been deleted so my curiosity is piqued. Anyone know?
Also by happenstance I found that
camliawaite , the original starter/one of the original starters of
origslash_news isn't dead. Her journal popped up during an unrelated search today and I saw she had updated.
I have sort of mixed feelings about things of this nature that I think I'll keep to myself but nevertheless... the more you know.

First things, I'm starting to poke at the Drabble Meme Challenge from months ago. I never heard back from
jesseofthenorth and I lost that fic along with everything else in the great hard drive crash of doom so I'm just going to be working from bottom to top...which, seeing as I have only one prompt won't be hard. So, just a simple fyi, if you still want to toss a prompt--feel free. If I don't get distracted by the shiny of other projects I think I can churn out a couple drabbles in a few days.
Secondly, everyone hates Jessica.
Most of you probably don't get that, its not a story I've posted, but I'm re-editing one of my stories featuring a female character named Jessica and while doing so I remember so many story workshops where people hate Jessica. This is eternally amusing for me because although she is far from perfect I do love her. I love writing about her...and nearly everyone hates her. When I finish deboning the massive nonsense (ie--it was originally written in between "acceptable for people who know trans issues" and "informational because classmates keep making stupid gendered comments" and I'm taking out the later) I'd love to find a reader or two who has not read it before and wouldn't mind making sure the deboning didn't remove anything of importance. (I'm also a fan of hard, soul ripping, edits but an extra pair of eyes can be utterly amazing)
On another topic-- I'm eternally grateful that I did the "what am I working on" meme. With a few exception its one of the few places I can at least find bits of what I had written and lost. Not a lot. Nothing will bring back 5 pages from #2, three chapters #14, etc. Therefore, I would suggest it as a one last failsafe.
As it is, tonight I'm fiddling with Samuel who will be in Southern Hospitality eventually, and finding that he is always in the rain. Always. And so, because I'm tired, I'm going to share with you Samuel in the rain.
Rain. Rain. Rain. I should probably step away from the computer before rambling anymore and I start tossing Jessica at you more.
